POSITION SUMMARY

The Head of Creative Operations oversees all aspects of creative operations in delivering VFX services. This includes processes, tools, communication flows, conventions, and metrics related to creative work delivery. The role focuses on the effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of creative execution and is not directly accountable for individual show objectives.
The scope spans all creative activities from ingest to egress, covering artist tools, central storage, I/O, and training. The role supports overall creative team objectives, working closely with the Creative Head, HOP, and CIO to align delivery, resources, and pipeline needs. A team of TDs, runners, and VFX editors reports into this role.
The primary goal is to ensure efficient processes, tools, and adequate training and resources to enable high-quality VFX delivery.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify inefficient, inconsistent, under-resourced, or manual operational areas and define improved processes, tools, resources, and conventions
  • Ensure the creative team is appropriately resourced, including workstations, central storage, render farm, DCC licenses, plugins, and tools
  • Ensure coordination with IT to develop pipeline tools aligned with creative department needs
  • Ensure TDs address ad hoc creative needs; similarly oversee runners and VFX editors
  • Identify gaps in artist productivity training and develop and implement training modules

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • At least 10 years of experience in the VFX industry, with 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong process orientation with an analytical and methodical approach; engineering background preferred
  • Ability to identify high-impact changes from low-value or irrelevant changes
  • Strong ability to collaborate and drive work decisively; able to perform under pressure
